I hope that you enjoy the silviculture library. This is a community driven repository of people’s experiences trying to manage forests to meet their objectives. Many of these entries are open for visitation, all you need to do is contact the person identified in the study.
Consider submitting your work to the library! We have trained student interns who can do 99% of the work for you—you will just need to talk to them for a bit. In the process, you will help the next generation of foresters and restoration ecologists learn their craft. We want examples of what does work…and what did not.
Finally, these examples are not meant to tell you what to do with your forest. That’s a personal decision that will require gathering information beyond what is in this library. Moreover, one person’s experience in one place should not be considered the final word on anything. The best way to make sound decisions is to engage a professional forester or restoration ecologist and talk to the larger community.
We hope the library can help you along this path, and please reach out if you have any questions or suggestions.
